More Mathew, Less Mommy!

Sorry for the mix ups with the pictures earlier. I thought I posted the entire album and somehow only ended up with one picture of me! LOL I know we'd all MUCH rather see baby Mathew pictures. Mat fixed it, so check back on the link and you should see all cute little pics of our angel.

Today has been a good, but challenging day for Mathew. His doctor decided to get aggressive and make some changes. Of his 2 lines into his belly, they removed one of them. They also tweaked his vent and made some changes. It's now running at 27% oxygen level but is on "auto mode." This lets Mathew do more of the work, but when he can't it slides in and does it for him. It's good prep for weaning him off of it. They said he might come off of it tomorrow or possibly even tonight. Our somewhat of a concern right now is with his brain activity. Today during these procedures, Mathew got very agitated and his little fists balled up and began shaking and his coloring changed to a blue-ish color. It lasted about 20 seconds and the nurses tried to confine him. They had just given him a dose of Versed (sp?), a sedative medication, so they're hopeful that it was just his reaction to that and all that was going on and not a seizure. He's on a brain monitor right now though and then they'll take a look at the recordings to see if anything significant shows up. If it does, they'll perform an EEG, but if not they'll assume it was the medication causing the reaction. Please say prayers that this was just a minor setback today. Mathew is definitely getting a little more active and agitated. He lifted his head and turned it on his own today. They don't want that to happen yet because it can cause him to begin pulling at tubes, lines, etc. It's a sign though that he's starting to realize what's going on and doesn't like it and to us that seems good that at least he's having that reaction.

I'm still working on healing myself. Dealing with a bladder infection and spinal headache, so I'm trying to do better with getting rest and pacing myself. We had to go visit the doctor this morning and they put me on some antibiotic. LOTS of swelling in my legs, but should subside within the week.

Thank you again to everyone for their love and support. We love you guys!

As you may have guessed, I don't usually blog. It was a challenge to figure it out, so I hope you receive this message. I will be checking in on your news.

Much love to you,
