Yep, my estrogen went from 112 (Tuesday) to 455! My body has been busy, ehh? That's the latest report after my visit this morning. My direction is to decrease the Follistim (ovarian stimulation med) by 50IU tonight and tomorrow night as well as continue with the Lupron/HCG injections the next 2 mornings. I report back to 0-town first thing Saturday morning for my next ultrasound and labs.
I think this is fairly good news, but I'm honestly not sure. The nurse that scanned me this morning seemed to imply that my follicles had a "long way to go" (in her words) in order to mature. I know that the minimum requirements for egg retrieval are 18mm diameter follicles and estrogen at 500. I'm guessing that since my estrogen level is getting up there, but the follicles have some catching up to do, they are cutting back my Follistim a little to try to find a happy medium. I could be wrong, but just using what I've gathered to make my best educated guess for now. The discomfort is continuing to escalate quite a bit, but I was relieved this morning when she assured that it's normal and a good sign that things are progressing! That was music to my ears! After seeing my rapidly growing ovaries on the screen today, it was clear why I was feeling some pain.
The next ultrasound I go for, a doctor will be present to do it, so I'm glad to hopefully get a little more detailed information at that time. It's hard, but I'm really trying to just let go and trust them and not over analyze things too much. It's all such an exact science and apparently requires lots of adjustments to get it just right.
Today was our first visit to the Orlando office. It's quite a bit further than than the Celebration office I've grown so accustomed to and MUCH bigger, but still it was very nice. This will be our home away from home for the next couple weeks, praying that all goes well!
