Fit for a King!

I didn't think "Fit for a Queen" would sound very appropriate, but "Queen" is just what we were aiming for...Lightning McQueen that is!  MJ loves "Queen" as he calls him, along with all cars really, but the Disney Cars seem to be a favorite.

After lots of debating, we decided to move MJ to the larger bedroom (our old one) and make a new "big boy" room for him.  We'd had two full sets of nursery furniture because when we were going through our homestudy process and had to have a furnished nursery ready back in April, we didn't feel like MJ was ready at that time to transition.  His crib transitioned to a toddler bed anyways, and we just planned on using that when the time came (which ended up being a few months later), so we bought a second nursery set.  But.....now that the nursery furniture had been sitting there unsued all this time, and MJ was sleeping well in his toddler bed, we were starting to feel like we really didn't need all this nursery furniture anymore.  Hated to take a financial loss, so we figured we'd just try posting it on Craig's List and see what happened. If we didn't sell it, we would have left it as is, but we were hoping for the best! Luckily, I was able to sell our full new set along with mattress and everything for not too much less than we paid for it.  I only lost about a hundred bucks on it.  Then, we used that money and really stuck to a budget to purchase MJ some new furniture.  We'll probably add a bit to it as Xmas presents, but it's already pretty adorable as is!  We found a twin size car bed on Craig's List, bought some furniture from IKEA, purchaed a Cars mural for the wall, and added a couple little accessories.  We (mainly Mat) busted our butts and pulled this together in less than two days..paint, mural, furniture assembling, moving clothes, etc....

MJ in his new big boy bed with his Cars sheets
All excited and ready for bed!  He looked like such a tiny little guy in that big bed.
The Cars mural which takes up one whole wall...Mat swears he will never wallpaper again!
New IKEA furniture I was able to pick out last weekend in Chicago (I officially love IKEA)
MJ's new Cars rug along with a bookshelf we've had for years and just painted red
This was our old room which had 2 red walls and 2 white...we painted them a light blue/gray color

Mat reading MJ his night time story.  I don't think anyone was more excited about this room than Daddy was!
Not the best quality pic.  It was taken from my phone in the dark once MJ was sleeping.  He may be lying upside down and certainly not under the sheets, but by golly he stayed in bed!  :)  So cute!!

MJ viewing his new room for the first time right after we woke up from nap!  He was a little confused.  ;)

I must admit that I never really thought I'd have a "character" type room for my kid.  Boy am I a sucker though!  It's totally worth it to see how excited he is and how much he loves it.  It's hard to believe he's already sleeping in a twin bed now and has a big room.  Thank goodness another baby is on the way, or I think I'd be having a harder time with his.
