An Unexpected Day
Today I was planning on spending a full afternoon at work, rushing home to eat dinner, and then leave MJ with the sitter while Mat and I attended our first PS-MAPP class (foster parent training). I knew we were supposed to get a little snow today, but didn't figure it would have too great of an effect on the day. I was surprised when I woke up though to find the snow already coming down strong and steady. I received a phone call late morning that our training class for the evening was cancelled due to weather. Then after Mat got home from work and told me how bad it was getting outside I decided to give in to the snow and just make today my off-day from work this week. Instead I spent the afternoon doing laundry, some online work, watching a movie with Mat, and then playing in the snow with MJ. When he woke up from his nap it was still snowing and it actually felt so warm to be in the low thirties! MJ and I put on our snow gear and headed out into the backyard. For the first time he LOVED playing in the snow. He laughed and smiled when he toppled over and enjoyed trying to tredge through the deep snow. I taught him how to throw snowballs and he even liked tasting it, too! As his little cheeks got nice and rosey and he was giving me "Eskimo kisses", I couldn't help but think that this was right where I was supposed to be! Unexpected day or not, I love moments just like those!

I remember talking with you on the phone when you were realizing your day was changing into something you had not planned. Blessings comes when we least expect them...the key is being aware and open to them...and you are, dear daughter! Thank you for reminding me.
Loving you,
Mom
Awww..such a sweet photo! What a great day! xx, Mindy
