Teacher of the Year!!!

By Matt:

My day started off so lousy. I was out late at the baseball game last night and my phone rang at 5:45 this morning. One of my employees was calling in sick and I had to be at work at 6:30 to get the branch open, but boy what a turn around...

I know my lovely wife is too modest to post her great news, so I am taking the liberty. Keli was voted Teacher of the Year for her school. She was very surprised and honored. She called immediately this morning at work to tell me she had news. Of course all types of thoughts go racing through my head, but I could tell by the tone she was happy. What a fabulous honor.

My first thoughts turned to the district teacher of the year. My credit union is the sponsor of the award and gives a new car to the winner. Greedy husband thoughts right? LoL. And then my second thought was if she wins that will they even give her the car since I work there??? I guess we will find out in February. That is when all the schools send their teacher of the year to a banquet and the district wide winner is announced. My blushing bride is already worried about what to wear since she will be less than one month from her due date! How adorable!!

Life sure has made some amazing positive turns in the last two months. With both of us having finished with our masters, my new branch opening five minutes from home, and the gift of our coming child I am amazingly upbeat. The 0 for 36 slump we were in with fertility and the baby had turned this eternal optimist negative. With the first trimester safely in the rear view mirror this is the happiest I have been since we have left Key West. I just want to say thanks to everyone for their love and support. Although it feels like we have come so far I know we are really only beginning our "winding road" and we look forward to sharing it all with you along the way!

I am off to take Keli for sushi to celebrate!
