Today marks the beginning of my 8th week and I couldn't be more thrilled! It's hard to believe it's only been one week since we saw the heartbeat. It seems like time is creeping by. I think I'm just anxious to get through this first trimester and I'm sure once I start back to work, the time will start moving much more quickly. Today has been my first day of bad nausea. Just a little queasiness so far with a really weird appetite, but today has been rough! This week our baby has been upgraded to the size of a big raspberry! Last week we were at a blueberry, so this is progress. My fridge is full of blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries, so all this fruit comparison is a little odd to me. I can't eat a piece of fruit without thinking that I'm eating something that could be the size of my baby! :) All the development I'm reading about just amazes me. It's hard to believe something SO tiny already has so many features. This week, his/her little webbed fingers and toes are starting to poke out from the hands and feet, breathing tubes are growing to the expanding lungs, and the little "tail" is just about gone! In the meantime my belly is starting to round out a little. Nothing too drastic but just getting firm and pudgy. I look like I've developed a beer gut and I can't suck it in! I wore maternity jeans for the first time this weekend and oh how comfy they were! Elastic feels so much better! I also got a Bella Band (thanks mom) and it's the coolest thing ever. It's like a big elastic thing that slides on over your regular pants and then you can leave them unbuttoned and even unzipped a bit and it covers it up and holds your pants up. I think this will really come in handy, especially with my work pants and save me some money in the long run! For anyone who's preggo or just feeling a little poofy, you gotta get one!
I had a great weekend with some college friends! Nothing too formal, but lots of visiting, food, and games...it was perfect! I spent most of the day yesterday in my PJ's working on homework or resting. It's amazing how just sitting around and eating makes me tired....sad, I know! I sure hope I gather some energy before school starts back up. If not, I might be implementing nap time for 2nd graders! :)

I love how you see the amazement in the tiniest things! It's the most wonderful experience and I am so happy you're finally getting to go thru it! KW
Keli, I love your blog and I am so happy for you and Mat. I've known you since you and Mindy were babies, yet I feel like I'm just now finding out how wonderful a person you really are. You have always been quiet since you were tiny and this blog lets all of us into your heart and thoughts. I love you and am thrilled for you.

I think we should implement naptime in every grade. I am all for that. I am not pregnant and still need my daily nap:)
Love ya

as i recall (100 years ago) that tired feeling really let up after the first trimester. I think your body is just working so hard at letting that little one grow, much harder than we think! Hugs! djm
