Rockin' Big Bro

Headed to Sibling Class

At the beginning of September, I signed MJ up for a Sibling Class at the hospital.  It was for ages 4 and up, and he was really excited to attend.  It was just 90 minutes, but just enough time for his age.  Of I already think he's a pretty great big brother to Charlotte, but I thought a little special time with him getting him excited about helping with the new baby would be good.

First up was practicing holding a weighted baby doll.  Think he's ready?  He liked trying to hold Charlotte, with help of course, when she was a little baby, but usually after about 10 seconds he was done.  We'll see what he's like this time around.  He also got to see a pretend teeny tiny baby, or more like an embryo, to get an idea of what size the baby started off as when we first realized we were pregnant.  It helped give him an idea of why we have to wait so long for the baby to grow and grow before arriving.

All the kids also got a chance to practice changing a diaper.  There were probably about 15 kids in the class, so this took quite awhile!!  MJ was pretty slow and methodical about it, but he was very gentle.  I'm not so sure he's ready to change diapers himself ;) but I think he'll make a great helper!

After diaper practicing, we headed to the Labor and Delivery floor for a tour.  Of course, he'd been on this floor not too long ago when we welcomed Charlotte into the world, but he didn't seem to remember it all that well.  He enjoyed getting to see the rooms and the babies in the nursery.  He asked LOTS of questions!  He definitely wasn't bashful at all.  He wanted to know about everything in the hospital rooms, all the equipment, and most importantly when we got to have a snack!  After our tour, it was back down to our classroom for a snack and short movie.

At the end of our class, all the kids received a goody bag including their very own official hospital gear.  MJ was all too happy to model it for me.  He's ready for surgery!

Of course the evening wouldn't be complete without an official Big Brother certificate!  He is very excited for Chloe or Cooper to soon join our family, and we think he's going to do a great job as a big brother x2!

Love this -- too adorable! He's always been such a sweet gentle soul so he's going to be even more amazing this time around since he's older! xxo, Mindy

Aw, who cares how dinky it was -- they're 4 & 1! I can't wait to start taking Harper to things, even if it does seem silly to us. It's so exciting to get to see things from the perspective of fresh little eyes!! xxo, Mindy
