Off to Preschool!

It's too funny not to share totally and honestly, but I sent my kid off to school for the first day on the WRONG day!

Yep, we had it all hyped up.  Got him dressed, took special pictures, went to pick Daddy up from work so he could ride along for the first day drop off...

All ready for 4 year old preschool at DMS!

...and then we got to the school and something didn't seem quite right.  There weren't many cars in the parking lot, but I thought maybe we were just a bit too early.  As we sat and waited though it became apparent that no one else was showing up!  I quickly texted one of my mama friends to check the school calendar for me, and she informed me that we were indeed there on the wrong day.  I laughed it off, then cried with guilt, then laughed some more.  I really did feel bad about it!  I felt like I had gotten MJ's hopes all up.  He was so excited for his first day back at school and was all confused as to why he couldn't go.  Since the teachers were there working though we went ahead and dropped his supplies off, said a quick hello, and then went for ice cream.  Ice cream cures everything right?!  Then it was back home to enjoy one last afternoon at home with my little man before the REAL first day of school.

Soooo, the next day, August 20th was "Take 2" as we dressed and prepped for school.  Daddy got to come with us once again, and we dropped MJ off back at his preschool that looks like a little red barn.  We are so happy with this preschool and how wonderfully MJ has developed and thrived in his year and half there thus far.
MJ was all smiles to see his teacher, Ms. Cat.  She was his assistant teacher last year.  His lead teacher left the school suddenly right before school started, and we were worried MJ might be really upset about this, because he really seemed to love Mr. James.  As 4 year olds will do though, his resiliency surprised us, and he transitioned to this change just fine.  He loves having Ms. Cat as his main teacher and he thinks his new assistant teacher, Miss Jackie is the bees knees!

The first day of school, or should I say the REAL first day of school was a packed full day.  It also happened to be Mat's birthday.  He had a very busy day at work that day followed by a board meeting at the credit union, so he just barely made it home in time before the kids went to bed.  They were anxious to celebrate with him though, so we had a yummy cake (thank you Paula Dean and your ooey-gooey chocolate chip cake recipe) waiting and ready for Mat as soon as he walked in.  The kids were all jammied up and ready for a quick celebration!  After they were in bed, Mat and I then enjoyed dinner together, took a deep breath, and crashed.  Summer is officially over and we are adjusting to getting back into the swing of things!  Hopefully this involves mommy checking the calendar a bit closer.  ;)
