My Baby is ONE!

Given that he's already 19 months old, it's about time I catch up on Cooper's birthday post.  I've had awhile now to adjust to the fact that my BABY IS ONE!  It sure flew by.  A cross country move will make time fly, that's for sure.  Cooper has morphed from little bitty baby into developing toddler.  Admittedly, Cooper's first birthday celebration was quite different than his big siblings, but incredibly special nonetheless...

Cute little Cooper on his first birthday-October 11, 2014.  A friend recommended someone local to me who made a birthday shirt for him.  I loved how it turned out!

Cooper's other one year stats are:
MJ had an early morning soccer game on the day of Cooper's birthday.  It was the first game the little kids and I missed, but we started Cooper's birthday off right with a donut for breakfast! Happy Birthday to YOU, Cooper!

It wouldn't be a birthday without some decorations in the house!

Once Mat and MJ returned from soccer, we gave Cooper his birthday present from us...a big sand/water table!  I think it will be awhile before we introduce any sand (too messy for me), but we filled it with water on both sides, and he went to town!  He loved splashing and playing, and Charlotte was sure to join in.  We have already gotten so much use out of this table.

Uncle Jeff came over for a yummy birthday lunch, complete with birthday brownies (yummm), and then it was naptime.  Even one year olds are in desperate need of an afternoon nap.  :)

After naptime, we got ready for a trip to the pumpkin patch.  We loved going to pumpkin patches in Iowa.  They never disappointed.  We'd looked into several places near us to find one we wanted to spend the afternoon at celebrating our boy and watching the kids have some fun.  It turned out pretty well, but one big difference...the heat!  It was a pretty warm day, so we lasted not much more than an hour, but still managed to have lots of fun!

MJ and Charlotte rode on the little cow train, and Cooper seemed like he wanted to join them.  I put him in next to Charlotte though, and he quickly let me know he did NOT want to go for a ride.  He was much happier watching and waving from mama's arms.
He did however LOVE playing in the corn!  I guess he's an Iowa baby at heart.
A pumpkin bigger than the kids!
We did a hayride, fed goats, went through a hay maze, rode the train, played, and picked out several pumpkins.  Once everyone was nice and hot and tired, we went over to Uncle Jeff's for a pizza dinner and played outside.

By the end of the night, the birthday boy was worn out.  Sweet dreams my one year old.  I loved the low key day just watching him laugh and play.

The following week, Gigi and PopPop were able to make a trip down to FL.  The kids were so excited to see them, and we all had a great time together.  We celebrated Cooper's first birthday with them at our neighborhood clubhouse.  It was kind of ironic since both MJ and Charlotte had their 1st birthday parties at the clubhouse in Gigi and PopPop's neighborhood.  Who would've guessed we'd be in St. Augustine, Florida celebrating Cooper's.  The space was perfect though, and made for a great time!

Cooper's pictures from months 1-12 along with his birthday presents awaiting him.

The theme was "Our Little Pumpkin is Turning ONE"

Mat grilled hot dogs down at the clubhouse and we had some yummy, kid-friendly sides.

MJ and Charlotte were eager to help him open his gifts.
Time for lunch!
And then time to swim!  Cooper looks naked in this pic.  Ha!  Since both our other children were born in cooler months (at least where we used to live), it was really fun being able to have our first outdoors birthday party...much less one that included swimming!  It was actually starting to get a bit chilly that night, but the heated pool still felt wonderful.
Now, time for the best part!

A good party isn't complete without cake faces!

Another little treat to the weekend was having Gigi and PopPop there to watch MJ play soccer.  Just looking back on these pictures, I can't believe how much Cooper has grown and changed since then.  He doesn't sit this still anymore.  Ha!

Cooper had a rough stretch during the fall and winter of being sick off and on with respiratory issues. His weight gain nearly stopped, and he took a dip on the growth curve because he just wasn't feeling well consistently enough to eat much.  He woke quite a bit through the night, nursed frequently, but as far as eating many meals, it was rather minimal.  Despite feeling poorly, his spirits were usually pretty high, and he kept busy and smiling.  He had to do lots of breathing treatments, including Albuterol, and even had his first trip the ER to rule out pneumonia and receive some extra breathing treatments.   It seemed so odd that we were spending our first winter in a warm climate, and he was struggling so much to stay healthy.  Because of all his visits to the doctor for being ill, his well baby check up didn't finally happen until 16 months, but his stats were:

One Year Stats:  Height 30.4, 15%       Weight 22.3, 15%    Head Circumference 47.7, 55%
