Pumpkin Patch

The start of fall is one of my absolute favorite times of the year!  I love the change in temps, wardrobe, and the overall beauty that surrounds us with the beautiful leaves.  Nothing says fall time like a visit to a pumpkin patch!  Due to travel plans over the last couple Octobers combined with bad weather here, we've missed out on attending any local pumpkin patches here in Dubuque, so I was really excited for a beautiful weekend and the chance to go right before the baby was born.  So with a belly as big as pumpkin, we loaded up the little ones and headed to Papa's Pumpkin Patch, about a half hour away in Bellevue, Iowa!

Mommy and Charlotte ready to go!  I had fun dressing up Charlotte.  :)

She wasn't a big fan of ever looking at the camera or smiling for me, but Miss Charlee was totally independent at the pumpkin patch.  She loved it!

A big sand pit full of trucks and tractors...what more can a boy ask for?!

The pumpkin patch had a lot of farm animals, and Charlotte was very enamored with them.  She kept pointing at them and watching them.  Besides animals the pumpkin patch included a maze, games, a hay ride, hotdogs and juice...best of all, it was free to enter and only 25cents for a hotdog and juice.  Hard to beat that!

Time to look for the perfect pumpkin

MJ chose this beautiful pumpkin!

Time to take a hayride!  MJ was cuddled up with me while Charlotte sat on Mat's lap.  The hayride was nice and long, and the weather was perfect for sitting close and cozy.
I absolutely love making memories like this with our kids.  I love seeing them experience new things like this and one of the best things about this stage in their lives is that they are so easily impressed with ordinary, beautiful things like pumpkins and farm animals.  Knowing that life was about to get very hectic in just less than a week and that my attention was going to be taken away from these two a bit, it was really special to enjoy a day just focusing on them and their happiness.
