Easter 2013

Right after returning from Florida, it was time to get in gear for Easter.  This is the first round of holidays where I'm starting to see that MJ is at least beginning to slightly grasp that there's actually a meaning and purpose behind many special holidays.  It's not to say he's still not mainly focused on goodies, candy, etc., but he's at least interested in listening and asking questions to learn more.  Since we'd been traveling, I felt a little bummed that we kind of rushed into the Easter celebration and I found myself giving him the Cliff's Notes version.  I made a mental note to do better with this next year!

First up on the agenda of course was dyeing Easter eggs!

So proud of his beautiful eggs!  He truly enjoyed it this year, and it was so fun to watch him.

Charlotte was happy to lend her support by watching and eating snacks.
Such a ham!  Love it!

The Easter Bunny came and left some little goodies for MJ and Charlotte.  MJ was sneaky and woke up early and found his Easter basket, so we didn't even get to watch him hunt for it.  Apparently the Easter Bunny didn't hide it quite well enough.  By the time Mat and I made it downstairs, this is what was left on the floor:

The kids were excited to explore their goodies!

Yes, they were in snowmen and  Christmas pajamas on Easter morning.  Don't judge.  ;)

Unfortunately, on Easter morning, Mat woke up with a stomach virus.  He was pretty much confined to bed all day.  He was really bummed to miss out on the fun with the kids, and I'll admit I was pretty bummed to be flying solo that day.  I'd gotten really sick the night before (pregnancy related), so I was kind of dragging myself, but managed to get the kids dressed and ready for church just barely in time.  It was one of those mornings when you walk into church feeling totally flustered and exhausted and leave feeling renewed and blessed!  Our church service was actually held at the Grand River Center, and I must say that it was the best sermon I've ever heard our pastor preach.  I loved every second of it it, and I knew I was exactly where I was meant to be at that moment.  The kids did great in the nursery, and I was happy to pick them up and bring them home for lunch.

Little did I know when I began preparing this meal the day before that Mat would be too sick to enjoy it.  It was basically a Easter meal for one as the kids didn't eat much of it either.  It was delish though!

I'm really thankful that I got to spend the day with my Easter cuties.  It felt a bit bittersweet not to be with any family, but after returning from FL, a quiet weekend was rather nice too.  How luck am I to have a God that died for me, so that my sins may be forgiven?!
