I might be a bit biased, but I am just in love with this picture! It was taken outside our front door on the way to drop him off at his first morning of preschool. He just looks so angelic and like he's growing up sooo quickly! Not to mention, I had to snap about 10 pics to get one of him actually looking at me and smiling. Picture success, finally!
On his first morning, Mat and I were both able to go to drop him off. It was a bit rough leaving him as of course he was rather upset, but being in those teacher's shoes before, I knew how important it was to give our hugs and kisses once, say goodbye, reassure him we'd be back, and then be on our way!! We were so excited to go pick him up on his first day. The tears were gone, and he seemed to have had fun! We are just wrapping up his third week and it seems to be getting better and better. He cries a bit each morning we drop him off (they actually come out to the car and get him out of his car seat for us...heaven!!), but they say he stops as soon as he gets in and gets to "work". He's happily playing on the playground each time we pick him up now, too.
It's great to see him flourishing. I think he was/is really ready for more socialization, some time away from the house, and a chance to learn and explore with others his age and at his own pace. He is attending a Montessori school, and so far I am really liking the concept and idea. It's a great fit for him right now! They even scheduled a parent-teacher conference for us prior to his first day, so that we could meet the teacher, discuss MJ, and learn a bit more about the classroom. Then, after his first week we attended a Parent Academic Night where all the parents of this class were invited in to meet with the two teachers and observe what a typical morning is like for our toddlers. Love it! The teacher in me as well as the mama that's a bit sad to see her boy growing up is totally in love with the philosophy and the school so far.
I hope MJ develops a love for school and spending time with his friends each week. Yay for my little learner and explorer!

Another great picture of MJ! He does look so much older in this one...like you can see him growing up before your eyes. These new experiences are so good and necessary for our children, but every parent lets go with fear and trepidation with each new step they take in their life...even as I do for you, the Mom now, but still my "little girl" :-) Mom
The pic resembles a school picture....he does look grown! So happy he's loving it and adjusting, it is healthy. Maybe that can be a future job....working in that type of school?!? -KW
Love that picture!!! You'd never know you took 10 just to get that 1 perfect pic! So happy you found a school he can flourish at! xxo, Mindy
